Wearable Arts
Posted on September 2nd, 2008 at 8:18 am by darcey and

In week nine our school has a wearable arts competition. I partnered up with Ryan and on Friday there was a teacher only day so he came around and we did our wearable arts costume. Our costume is made of a sheet and plastic bags. First we made a shirt out of a sheet and Ryan made one side small and one side big so now it’s really funny. After that we made another shirt out of a plastic bag. Then we made a pair of pants and another pair of pants from a warehouse bag. After that we went on the computer and played Rune scape for a while. Dad went out and got a pie each for lunch and I was already full but I managed to get threw it. After that we made a hood for me and stapled it together and I put it all on, I felt a bit silly but I’m going to have to wear it anyway.

Rugby Semi Finals
Posted on August 25th, 2008 at 12:50 pm by darcey and

On Saturday my rugby team and I played at Stan Heather Park in the semi finals. We had a hard warm up so I had to take my jersey off, when we were about to play I said “oh s**t I left my mouth guard in my jersey!” I sprinted to my dad and he gave me my mouth guard. Lucky I was off in the first half because I was really tired after that sprint! In the first 10 minutes we scored twice and Troy our kicker got both of them over. Be time half time was near the score was 19-0 to us. At half time we had some oranges and got back on the field, we scored again and again. in this game of rugby I played hooker which means I played in the fords and when I was in one of the malls I got kicked in the lip and all I could taste was blood for ages. By time we were finished the score was 34-0 to us and we had a very good victory for the semi finals. The bad thing is that Troy only converted the first to tries.

Cross Country
Posted on August 18th, 2008 at 9:11 pm by darcey and

On Wednesday 13th of August, Te Awamutu Intermediate School had a cross country race. Last year I came 16th in the year seven boys, this year I came 12th in the year eight boys which made me very proud. Last year my class (room 3, the brainy class) won cross country this year I think we will win it again (we haven’t got the results back yet). First up was the year eight girls, this year we got four people in the top 15, Milly came 6th, Kaitlyn came 7th, Sarah came 13th and Holly came 14th. Next up was the year seven boys we only have three year seven boys and none of them came in the top 15. After that the year seven girls raced, Megan came first then Kalela came 7th and I think that Hayley came 12th. Last but not least was the year eight boys, it was my time to shine! I ran the whole race with Mitchell apart from the end when he passed me. The results for the year eight boys were, Patrick coming second, then Mitchell came 10th, Eric came 11th, I came 12th and Ryan came 13.

Rugby

On Saturday 9th August I played rugby with the Te Awamutu Hornets against the Hamilton Suburbs I had to bring the jerseys and the oranges because dad offered to wash the week before. We put them on and I had to play fullback because troy wasn’t there and we don’t have any other full backs. After a tiring warm up we kicked off, josh is our kicker and he did a good kick. We didn’t score for ages in the first half and i was getting thirsty when we finally did score it was wide of the post and we mist the conversion. Half time finally arrived and I got a massive drink and some oranges. a few subs were put on and we got back to it. At full time the score was 20nill and we won! Adam and Fraser got player of the day and they well deserved it.

Rugby

Last weekend we played Te Rapa’s 11th grade rugby team. We started training and had to do a short sprint, after that we did some stretches and the rest of our training. I wasn’t on in the first half but when I did go on (at half time) the score was 29-nill to us. I was playing half back for the second half and Troy, our full back got hit and had to go off the field so Josh come on and played full back after a few more tries to us we were about 10m from their try line and it was our scrum. I put the ball in and walked to the back of the scrum, I got the ball and made a sprint to the try line I made it and got a try. Bayle was kicking this week and got the conversion, at full time the score was 55-nill to us.

The Big Storm
Posted on August 4th, 2008 at 8:40 am by darcey and

On Sunday the 27th of July a big storm came and hit the Waikato. It started early in the morning and finished after I went to bed, so it went on for hours! The weather reporter on one news said that there was 130kmph winds, I stayed inside all day and played about four different games on the play station. During the storm four people died, two people were kayaking and got forced into rocks and died, one man was court out on a boat and I’m not sure how he died. The last mans house got burnt down because he was using candles, because the power was cut, because of the massive winds. in the day of the storm our BBQ cover got ripped off and thrown up against the fence also because of the wind.

The New Technology Block
Posted on July 3rd, 2008 at 10:35 am by darcey and

Last week the new technology block at Te Awamutu Intermediate was complete and we had our first lesson in them on Tuesday. The builders started building it December last year and since then they’ve been working on it everyday. It finally was complete last week and it looks really good. In the cooking room they have six stainless steel benches for cooking on and it looks really flash. In the soft materials room there isn’t a lot of change but there are magnetic pins so that’s handy. I haven’t really seen the science room very well but it looks really good compared to what it used to be like. In the wood work room they have got something to suck up all the saw dust because in the old room we were always coughing because of it. From the out side the rooms are red brick with a red corrugated iron roof and the door frames are white. In the foir they have a projector with a plasma TV behind it… its completely pointless.

Review of goals
Posted on July 3rd, 2008 at 9:54 am by darcey and

I think that I have tried hard to complete my goals in these ways:

In maths I haven’t got in a better group but I’ve been trying hard and I have learned a few things this term.
I haven’t really gotten any better in English and I haven’t completed my goal but I have started to proof read.
I’ve half completed my languages goal because I can say the closing karakia but only if I read it off a piece of paper.
I’ve also half completed my sport goal because I’ve got one badge and I might be getting one very soon.
I think that I’ve completed my social studies goal because I haven’t been getting so distracted when I’ve been working.

MATHS: To do better in maths by getting in higher groups and trying harder.

ENGLISH: To try harder in English and to more work in my book, also to do more proof reading and not make so many mistakes.

LANGUGES: To try harder in french and Maori and be able to say the closing Karakia by the end of this term.

SPORTS: To try get three or more sport badges on my school jersey by trying harder and doing my best at sport.

SOCIAL STUDIES: To try and get more involved in our group tasks and activities by not getting so distracted and working harder.

The Random Kitten
Posted on June 16th, 2008 at 9:39 am by darcey and

Last week sometime my sister and I were outside and this really cool, cute little kitten came along. The kitten had grey fur and a red collar that was cut, in the past few days me and my sister have been patting it and playing with it. It’s really fast and even though it has a collar I dont think it has a home, gets fed or gets treated very well because when it comes to our house every couple of times my sister will give it some milk and it will drink the whole lot. On sunday night it was under our deck all night. My mum and dad dont think that we should be encouraging it to come over and play but its such a cute little kitten.
